My unconventional NYE wish for you

One of the “commitments” I made to myself for the New Year is to say more of what’s on my mind, without reservation. Consequently, I found myself writing a little bit of NYE truth to share with y’all…

This NYE my wish for YOU is simply to stop ✋🤚

Stop measuring your progress using someone else’s ruler. Stop scrolling through everyone else’s insta-filtered lives and thinking yours is anything less than exquisitely perfect, because it’s uniquely yours.

Stop thinking you have to share brazen NYE resolutions just because everyone else is. I’m all for setting massive goals, but if you do, make sure those goals are yours, not someone else’s. And then, no matter how big or small, make sure you commit to pursuing them with every bone in your body.

My wish for you is that you become the “Top Fan” of your OWN life. That you find acceptance, the kind that only YOU can give yourself, the kind that rattles your bones and silences the demons that tell you that you’re not good enough or that you’ll never see those dreams come to fruition.

In this New Year, I hope that all of the love you’ve given to the wrong people will finally makes its way back to you. If you’re struggling, I hope that you find closure while waiting for the darkness to disappear, and I hope you remember your worth no matter how your circumstances have braided your thoughts.

I hope that you forgive yourself for not being superhuman, for not possessing the preternatural ability to be all things to all people. And because I also believe that others need your light, I hope that you become so full of radiant energy that no matter how much you give, you will still be overflowing.

I hope that you fall so unapologetically in love with your own life that God’s greatness is evidenced in the kindness and love that beams from your face every time you smile.

And finally, I hope you find the courage to stop trying so hard to let go of what no longer serves you. In your efforts to push it away you are only giving it center stage prominence. Stop standing in the middle of the ruins of what once was, and instead, envision building a new empire in its place…what does that look like? Whatever it is, embrace it, become obsessed with it, breathe it in, run to it…and eventually, you will become it.

Most importantly, I hope you look back on this next year as proudly you would your greatest achievement. I hope you can say that 2020 was the year you learned to live life on your own terms with reckless abandon. 🖤

Here’s to you 🥂 Wishing you love, light, and a purpose that fuels your passion for life 🌟

xoxo,

Maura
